A new feature by writer John Cody on Pete's inspiration/motivations on life and music appears online at: ARTICLE by JOHN CODY

Pete's new recording, "Invisible Cities", featuring Tim Hagans, Rich Perry, Ugonna Okegwo and Tom Melito, was released in March and resided in the Top 20 of airplay nationally for several weeks.

The recording has received positive notices worldwide, among them, a FOUR STAR review in Down Beat from Ted Panken and a real beauty from Owen Cordle in JazzTimes.  Further, Jim Macnie, of the Village Voice, said this: "We know he’s a wicked pianist, but the new Invisible Cities reminds that his knack for small group arrangements gets deeper every year. It’s made by a quintet of dudes who don’t get enough props; under Malinverni’s guidance they sound like a rhythmically curious band that’s found a way to turn the commonplace—mainstream swing pieces—into something memorable".

For a signed copy of "Invisible Cities", just send $20 to Malinverni Music, 241 Sixth Ave., #1-C, NYC, NY 10014.  If you'd like to purchase downloadable written music from the CD or recordings of rehearsals or live dates, contact Pete via petemalinverni@aol.com for info.

Pete's commissioned piece for Gospel Choir and Jazz Orchestra, "The Good Shepherd", received its NYC premiere May 10 at Symphony Space, NYC.  A recording of the performance is being prepared.

The Spirit
Now you can download, in whole or by the tune, Pete's 1989 quartet date "The Spirit", featuring tenor saxophonist Ralph Lalama, bassist Pat O'Leary and, in his final recording, master drummer Mel Lewis. The date was recorded at Rudy Van Gelder Studios with Van Gelder himself as engineer and features several Malinverni originals along with covers of two standards.
Theme and Variations
Like to get a copy of Pete's solo piano recording "Theme and Variations" on Reservoir Music? It's been called "surprisingly revelatory" in All About Jazz, where reviewer George Kanzler said, "Malinverni's approach to jazz piano is refreshingly singular". Chip Stern hailed Pete and 'Theme and Variations' this way, "a jazz pianist whose range of articulation, sense of clarity and concision, rhythmic exuberance and harmonic depth make for one of the finest solo piano recitals in my sonic menagerie." To get a signed copy, just send a check for $20 to cover the disc and handling to Malinverni Music, 241 Ave of the Americas, #1-C, NYC NY 10014
